Nose - Dried herbs, some black fruits and plums. Taste - Floral, brilliantly over the top floral. Lavender and purple flowers with a bunch of savoury red fruits. Very different and one for a lighter meat like veal or pork. Its ok but nothing to rave about
Head Wines The Brunette Syrah 2008
Another Head wine! This time something from a friends cellar. Great to taste one with a bit of age on it. Nose - Dark fruits, blueberries and blackberries. Not fresh individual fruit, but they smell like they have been mashed together is a rich sauce. Multi layered and delicious. Taste - This could still go … Continue reading Head Wines The Brunette Syrah 2008
Kosher time – Corucho Roble 2010
Nose - Dark fruits, liquorice and some dried herbs Taste - Lovely dried red fruits and then a spanning of liquorice, anise and cloves. Its surprising fleshy and light for a 2010
Torzi Matthews Frost Dodger Riesling 2019
Nose - Some petroleum and smokey notes, very floral with green apple and a zesty backbone throughout. Its a very clean nose to it. Its nothing like I have smelled before. What a day for Rosé – Maison Angelvin Provence Rosé

Torzi Matthews Mystic Park Shiraz 2019
Coming into this knowing 0% on Torzi Matthews Nose - Can wines smell this big? Is this legal? How can a liquid smell this good. Its HUGE! The nose is so rich, its over the top Barossan dark fruit, vanilla and chocolate. I think there is some clever oak work at play here. Taste - … Continue reading Torzi Matthews Mystic Park Shiraz 2019
Stonier Chardonnay 2019
They make some great value wines at Stonier and their reserve range is one for the cellar. A big fan of their wines, lets see how their entry level Chardonnay goes. Nose - Lemon and lime, cashew nuts and butter. A mix of fruits in there, rather summery and fresh. Taste - Its rounder and … Continue reading Stonier Chardonnay 2019
The perfect night cap
Most port/fortified wines have that burnt orange peal and vanilla base to it . This one! I think not. Its just a massively glorified shiraz. I was very impressed how enjoyable a thick syrupy, over the top fortified shiraz could be. Its 300% shiraz and is every big wine lovers dream. I cant think of … Continue reading The perfect night cap
Josef Chromy Chardonnay 2016
Nose - Not as large as the previous 2017, 2018 or 2019 vintages. Lovely wine, and a typical Tasmanian Chardonnay. Taste - Starts with a lot of lemon and acidity. This quickly fades away with some breathing and becomes a very enjoyable wine. An extremely long finish and quintessentially Australian. Top shelf. Lovely wine
Hunters best red – Lakes Folly Cabernets 2016
One of my lovely best friends brought this over for a cheeky Tuesday wine night! (As you do, thank you Lauren!!!) Nose - Its Oaky, dusty, has heat from alcohol and some smoked tea and dark fruit notes. Wasn’t the most enticing. Taste - All of the smell can be forgotten, its only a matter … Continue reading Hunters best red – Lakes Folly Cabernets 2016
